1.7 How to Interpret Signs & Words on Labels

First, look to see if the label shows a dangerous goods ‘diamond’, the word ‘hazardous’, or another warning.

If a chemical is classified as a dangerous goods, it will have a ‘diamond’ sign(s) that indicate the type of hazard and will show the classification number.

GHS Hazard signs/pictograms are also diamonds. (See next topic.)

WARNING = Less severe hazard
DANGER = More severe or significant hazard
